He has no plan.

Tell us about yourself. I'm 30 years old, and I live in Milwaukee, WI. I first played Bat in 1995. I'm a dba/programmer. Also been playing guitar for about 18 years, and my band starts recording an album in about 1 week. How did you originally find BatMud? My rl friend, Madrid and I went to college together. He found it on some telnet listing. Is there a meaning to your name? It was supposed to be 'pook', a name my brothers used to call me when we were kids. Somebody had that already, so I just took something similar. What's been your favorite 'incarnation' here on Bat? That's a tough one, I find many different reincs fun. I made most of my exp as a tarmadruid, and I know that best, so I guess that. TigerSpider reinc is fun too. What was your worst reinc and why? Way way back when, I went thief vampire. I was only like level 26. Latexi found out I was a thief and pkilled me until I reinced out of vampires. :> I used to hide in the zoo and strangle people that came by to kill goats. What motivates you to play on the mud -- exp, money, socializing, something else? Well, it's the only game I can play from work, so that's a big part of it. I still enjoy the exping and friends, but I dont have time outside of work much anymore. What recent tunes have you most liked? I think both the exp pool and weapon speed tunes are great for different reasons. The exp pool is a good way to keep casual players interested and feeling like they are getting somewhere while still not penalizing all-day players too much. And the weapon speed is great because it promotes use of different weapons, not just the biggest you can wield as before. What recent tunes have you least liked, and why? Not a specific tune, but race tunes in general. It seems that when one race is too popular, it is downtuned too much, so everyone just jumps to the next top race(s). When one race is too good, only a minor downtune is usually necessary. Although training points and training over the max have seemed to help race balance a lot. What changes would you most like to see made in the mud? More to be gained from questing. And quests that are less linear, so they are just a series of steps and people can find out from others and not really figure the quest out on there own. Exping is part of Bat and shouldn't go away, but alternatives could be a little more rewarding. I also think there should a minimum size mob parties can earn exp on. A 6 man party kills rabbit, exp is small yes, but it should be 0, they should have to fight reasonably challenging mobs in order to gain any xp. Will you still be playing Bat in 1 year? 5 years? 10 years? Probably, I didnt expect to be playing at this point anymore, so I guess I will continue for the foreseeable future. Thank you for the interview Kooper!
